Ladies, Do you feel more comfortable...?

...when the male health care provider is married when it is sensitive?

I got hurt a while ago, it was not bad enough to go to the ER but the paramedic/EMT helped me. He bandaged me up. He was very professional and didnt do anything wrong. I was just exposed and he saw parts of me. It might be just me, but in the situation I know I would have felt more comfortable if he was married. Does anyone else feel more comfortable with a male doctor, nurse, or other providers if they are married compared to unmarried?

It really doesn't make a difference as to whether they are married or not. Do you really think that a married man looks at a woman any differently than an unmarried man? It's not like he's suddenly blinded to all other woman besides his wife, or he suddenly views all other woman as his sister.

However, a paramedic really doesn't view a patient in that context. Whether the medic is male, female, married, or single, they are required to treat every patient with respect and dignity. I've had to view scrotal injuries, strip male trauma patients nearly naked on my stretcher, deal with drunk and nude college kids, and trust me on this one; my thoughts were not of a sexual nature in the slightest! My male coworkers tend to feel the same way; once a patient, a person really isn't viewed in a sexual light, only a a professional one.

Hope this helps....

Head lacerations.
