Ultrasounds For Animals

My darling little Gizmo, the tabby cat, was recently sent to see an emergency vet after being run over last week. The poor mite could hardly walk and was whining all day as he was so distressed. He could hardly walk and was clearly in shock after his ordeal.

The personnel at the veterinary clinic were fantastic. They put me at ease and ensured me that they would take care of Gizmo. I was informed that an animal ultrasound would be needed in order to asses my pet’s injuries.

This concept was completely new to me; I always thought ultrasounds were used solely for human beings and mainly for pregnancies.Though today, it appears that technology has advanced rather considerably, with ultrasounds being used for animals and used to spot a series of health problems.

Because ultrasounds are non-invasive, it helps the vet to find the animal’s problem in a much quicker and exact way. Because of this reason, this sort of equipment is now used quite widely in veterinary practices.

Gizmo had to have an ultrasound to examine his abdominal organs, because his spleen and liver may have been damaged. On top to this, abdominal ultrasounds can also make out issues with the kidneys. The technology used means that the vet is able to quantify the size, localize pathologies or even perform biopsies, from small cats to big dogs.

Luckily, when I got received the results it was good news. Gizmo would be OK! He was prescribed some antibiotics to help clear up a very minor infection, however I was told he would be OK in a few days’ time. He may also require some form of animal physiotherapy to help build up his strength, but so far he’s looking OK.

Gizmo was thrilled to be home! He’s now curled up in his little basket, all comfy and warm. He’s been treated to some yummy dinners like fresh tuna and chicken breast. At the end of the day I reckon he deserves it after his distressing incident!

Has anybody had any luck with the portable ultrasound machines for pain?

I would like to know if anybody purchased a home portable ultrasound machine for pain relief. i purchased one for my knee injury and was wandering if anybody else found relief with these machines. i bought mine for $60 i just started using it last night. anybody have any problems after using it? thank you.

For 60$ you're not getting an ultrasonic machine, you're getting a fancy massager. The pizo-electric components of a real ultrasonic generator would cost you much, much more.
