In this day and age it is important for a dentist to have "Dental IQ." This has to do with knowing the patient, particularly their financial abilities. It has been determined that most patients will complete a treatment plan for $3500 or less. However, once the tab goes over the $3500 mark patients start to have second thoughts. This knowledge is important for improving dental practice consulting.
Dentists have their own unique dental case acceptance way of presenting their diagnosis to each patient. They can do the analysis and then suggest or recommend the best treatment plan to preserve the oral health as well as present a healthy set of teeth.
Too many dentists assume each patient will complete the treatment plan as prescribed by the dentist. This is why it is so important for the patient to know and understand the consequences if the plan is not followed. What the dentist must realize and fully understand, however, is the fact that just because a patient has a treatment plan it does not mean the patient can or will follow through to completion. There are numerous reasons for this such as money, fear, no dental insurance, and other reasons the patient stops to think about it.
Most dentists agree that patients will agree to a treatment plan of $3500 or less. This is because it does not cause too many hardships or inconveniences. The more expensive the services the more chances the patient may decline the treatment plan, or stall and postpone the treatment.
Some dentists have learned that it is first wiser to learn about and understand the patient's situation. Find out, upfront, the concerns the patient has. Then, after knowing and understanding these conditions, the dentist can try to work with all of these given factors. Dentists claim that this not only saves times for everyone concerned but will also make them more comfortable with the dentist and his or her practice.
When evaluating each new patient the dentist must educate him/herself in other aspects of the patients' life. The dentist needs to consider the inconvenience the treatment plan may be or if it will cause problems. The dentist must be aware of the patients' financial capabilities, health issues, dental insurance, and so forth. It is also important to know if the patient is newly married or recently divorced, on a new job, if there is a newborn in the family, and so forth. These are all important factors in order to evaluate the patient.
These situations are often referred to by dentists as the "fit factors." This involves getting in touch with your patient and understanding their overall situation. Once this information has been obtained it allows the dentist to help fit dentistry into the patient's situation.
Now we have "Dental IQ." We have a dentist who has learned enough information about his or her patient so that there is an understanding of how dentistry will fit into her or his life. It allows the dentist to know, beforehand, what kind of procedures s/he should follow in the future. The dental consulting is important to the success of your business.
Medical exam in basic?
I am going to be going to basic in june, I had my medical exam at meps last october, and was medically disqualified due to an operation i had a couple years ago, but they got a waiver for it, and now i am going back in may to get the final go ahead, but i am wondering, i have a missing front tooth, with a removable retainer that has a fake one on it, they checked it at the exam but he only asked if it was removable, and nothing else, will i be disqualified again if i get to basic and they do the dental, is that a problem if it doesnt hinder me at all.
It shouldn't if its removable but you might want to go for a check up and get a written approval from a doctor - unless you have to go to MEPS again.
