Studying During Labor
The Birth partner is an important factor within the birth team. Being educated on what you may do to help your partner will enable you to understand her requirements and be ready to meet them.
• Taking a childbirth class can aid you to really feel confident about your role.
• In early labor, encourage the mother to rest if it really is nighttime and eat if she is hungry.
There are few events in life that will method the wrenching hurt of watching a infant or youngster attempt to reside inside the planet with brain damage or severe physical injury or disability. When a doctor pays close consideration and remains plugged in towards the labor and birthing process, out there and ready to act and react, tragedy can generally be avoided.
• Listen to the mother's cues and trust her instincts.
• Don't take it personally if the laboring woman adjustments her mind. She may well ask you to rub her back one moment, after which not to touch her the subsequent moment.
In terms of medical malpractice litigation, the defense of a doctor most frequently revolves around determining no matter whether the apparent abnormality has a benign or effortless explanation. When it does not, the defense frequently argues that there was a sudden emergency that could not be anticipated or planned for. The medical malpractice lawyer representing the family members of the injured child need to know (a) the questions that require asking; (b) the answers that demonstrate that the failure to respond was excusable under the law and (c) how to separate the excusable failure to respond from defense manipulations of what was happening that seek to excuse wrongful inaction and also the resulting tragic injury.
The investigation by the medical malpractice attorney for the household must look to prove that the unanticipated and unprepared for emergency need to have been both anticipated and ready for, and ought to not have been allowed to degenerate into a predictable crisis. Some of the related investigation questions are: Do fetal monitor tracings that seem temporarily abnormal have a prepared and reoccurring explanation?
• Remind her to take long, deep abdominal breaths. It may possibly enable for those who breathe with her and guide her to a slow breath together with your own.
Is there one thing within the mother's history or within the labor itself, that raised the risk of fetal compromise or danger that required anticipation and preparation by the doctor?
• Take your own deep breaths! When you are nervous, the laboring mom can choose up on this and it can distract from her focus and confidence. Be confident - her physique knows how to give birth.

What are the Pros and Cons of the electronic fetal monitor during pregnancy? Also...-->?
Can you decided whether you want to be connected to it or not during birth? and why wouldn't you want to be connected to it during delivery?
Thanks!
Most hospitals require a 20 minute strip of monitoring upon arrival at the hospital. Many hospitals have a policy that you can't be OFF the monitor, and some will let you if would rather be up and walking. Sometimes it simply depends on the nurse you have! You can sometimes compromise after the initial strip, to be monitored for about 15 minutes every hour.
There was a nine year study done on electronic fetal monitoring. They did the study with moms on continuous monitoring and moms' who only had a nurse come in a listen with a doppler every now and then. The outcomes for the baby were exactly the same. There were no fewer deaths or any other complications to the baby when the monitoring was NOT used. The ONLY difference was that moms were 2 and 3 times more likely to have an emergency cesarean when they had continuous monitoring.
Pros:
*Will give nurses and doctors and idea of how baby is doing, and how far apart your contractions are.
*Will give an indication of how baby is handling the contractions and possibly show signs of fetal distress. SEE CONS though!
Cons
* False positives are very common with EFM.
can be for contractions or fetal heartbeat
*Continuous monitoring confines you to the bed which inhibits 'active' labor.
*It can be uncomfortable during contractions.
*Sometimes the machine gets more attention than the mother.
*Uncomfortable for the mother - and get*s in the way of efflourage
Alternatives:
Request the nurse use a handheld doppler which can be used anywhere at anytime.
You can compromise on being monitored for 15 minutes every hour until the pushing stage, where you*ll be near the bed anyway. Use the bathroom often, or walk around.

If you’ve delivered a baby in the past three decades, your doctor likely
strapped a device to your belly to monitor your baby’s heart rate. One of the
most common obstetric procedures in the United States, electronic fetal heart
monitoring has saved lives, reducing the number of babies who die in labor.
But it hasn’t lowered the frequency of cerebral palsy, a neuro-developmental
disorder often caused by birth trauma. A new study by maternal-fetal medicine
specialists at Intermountain Medical Ce...
