Pros And Cons Of Plastic Shopping Bags
Should we use plastic shopping bags? This question has bothered many people for about a few years. Some people think that plastic shopping bags do harm to our environment and we should avoid using them. But some people think that plastic shopping bags can bring us many advantages and we need to use them. However, both of them are right. In this article I would like to explain my own views about using plastic shopping bags. These views are my own opinions and you can agree with them or not. It is totally up to you.
Pros: plastic shopping bags are of low cost and can be very useful.
For shop owners and some retailers they think that using plastic shopping bags is very cheap. Someone has calculated that making a standard plastic shopping bag only cost one penny. However, making a paper shopping bag may costs 5 cents and making a cloth shopping bag may costs almost one dollar. Therefore, no matter retailers or customers, they all find that using plastic shopping bags is cheap.
Moreover, utility can be considered as the most important factor. Plastic shopping bags are easy to open, pack and store. Contrary to paper shopping bags, plastic shopping bags can bear wet and heavy things. Besides, plastic shopping bags are durable which means they can sustain very heavy things.
Cons: the greatest disadvantage of using plastic shopping bags is that they do harm to the environment.
Plastic shopping bags have a low recycle degree. In 2010, only 6.3 percent of plastic shopping bags were recycled while about 30 percent of paper bags were recycled. Therefore, plastic shopping bags can cause a great danger to the environment.
However, there is one method to avoid this and that is choosing good plastic shopping bag manufactures. These good manufactures are also good at providing automobile spare part and wholesale plastic.
Can I keep a turtle in a plastic tub?
Hi. I wanted a turtle, and I have an aquarium, but the aquarium is only 12"x24". When I did some research, I learned that that is not big enough, but a few websites said that I can keep a turtle in a large rubbermaid container or some other plastic utility container. Is this true? Other than the fact that it doesn't look as nice as keeping it in an aquarium, are there any problems with it? If I can, how big of a container would I need for two Red-Eared Slider turtles?
Yes, a plastic tub works. but RES get pretty big...so think ahead. A hard plastic wading pool will provide lots of room, and further down the line, rubbermaid makes HUGE stock tanks that make great homes for turtles. For 200 dollars you can get one that holds 300 gallons and is about 3 ft deep. Makes a great indoor or outdoor pond for the turtles, you can provide an island and basking area, etc.
The larger the container, the easier it is to keep water quality high and the turtles healthy and active.
heads up...the large storage containers, when filled with water "bow'" out, they are pretty strong and I've used them, but be aware that can happen. If it worries you, knock together a frame from plywood or lumber.
A Toaster to Dock Your IPhone (Mobiledia)
An iPhone dock resembles an old-fashioned toaster, bringing retro charm to
Apple's modern device.
Singapore-based Gavio released the "Toast," a dock with a sound station,
designed to look like a drop-down bread toaster. The eye-catching gadget
carries dual 50-millimeter speakers, powered by a three-watt amplifier that
could lead people to use Toast in many other rooms besides the kitchen.
It's also powered by a lithium-ion battery, allowing it to go completely
wireless.
The device follows Gavio's Pill, an iPod Nano docking system shaped like an
over-sized medicine capsule, adding to the fun gadgets the company offers.
Gavio says Toast is available for pre-order, but hasn't yet set prices for it.
The device will likely be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show this
month.
As technology becomes more modern, many companies are recognizing that people
still enjoy the good old days, and like devices that remind them of
yesteryear.
For example, South Korea-based Kee Utility last year released a Desk Phone
Dock, which transforms an iPhone into a traditional wired desk phone. The dock
has built-in stereo speakers, a microphone, volume control, instant mute,
works off of USB or AC power, and charges the iPhone.
Another device, the Audman case, turns ...
