Anti Corrosion – Stainless Steel Bearings
Midland Bearings are perhaps the premier stockist of stainless steel, anti-corrosion bearings in the UK.
These rust proof bearings are produced from AISI440 stainless steel material and are available with rubber seals {2RS}, metal shields {ZZ} or unsealed.
These types of none corrosive bearings are often used in food processing application and equipment that comes into contact with food. Due to this, all of the greases used in these bearings are food grade lubricants.
AISI440 is a martensitic {magnetic} grade of stainless steel and bearings produced from this material are not suited to highly corrosive environments. They are suited for applications that are regularly cleaned down such as food conveyor etc
Bearings used in highly corrosive environments or seawater are normally produced from 316-grade stainless steel or plastic. This is generally a softer material and although more resistant to corrosion bearings made from 316 stainless are not as hard wearing and would take much less load than a standard stainless AISI440 bearing.
These AISI440C bearings are generally deep grooved ball bearings {10mm bore and above} and normally designated as 6000, 6200 and 6300 series. However we are also able to supply other series in stainless steel. Midland Bearings also stock miniature bearings in stainless steel. Also available are stainless steel self aligning bearings, bearing inserts for use in housings, extra thin bearings, extra wide bearings, thrust races, flanged bearings, single row and double row bearings. We can even offer angular contact bearings in stainless steel.
Stainless steel bearings are available with both imperial and metric dimensions and Midland Bearings also stock a range of stainless steel housings to mount these bearings into. These housing are available in different styles such as pillow block, two bolt flange and four bolt flange units. The stainless steel housings are made from AISI304 grade stainless.

How To Make Your Bath More Relaxing
Many people consider the bathroom to be nothing more than a room where you shower or bathe, not giving much thought to the room’s appearance or the ways in which it might be used. Why not think of it instead as your own little private sanctuary—a place to escape to! What’s better after a hard day’s work than to relax the stress away and rejuvenate your spirits?
It’s difficult to find a room in your home where you can actually escape the rest of the family. Although you sometimes need time to yourself, young children often follow along right on your heels. It’s always important to seek out a little time to unwind. The perfect place to escape can be the bathroom, but you need to create the right atmosphere.
Get Rid of That Cold, Sterile Look
Sometimes bathrooms end up looking like, well, no more than just a bathroom. Is it complete with stainless-steel towel racks and toilet-paper holders—the works? There’s nothing fancy; everything is pretty basic and straightforward. If this is your bathroom, then here’s where you need to start!
The first step is to soften the look. This can be done by adding wrought-iron towel racks or white or pastel-colored wood. Choose a soft, relaxing shade for the walls, such as lavender or sea foam. Carpet in the bathroom is always nice, or go with colorful ceramic tiles. Especially if your linoleum is plain-looking and hardly noticeable, consider updating your floors.
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Look at your large bathroom mirror—does it look a little stark? Does your mirror just hang there with nothing around it? Then perhaps it’s time to make a change. As an alternative, hang a mirror trimmed with gold edges or place wallpaper border around it. Using a border that contrasts with the color of the walls will create some interest. Or why not change the shape of the mirror completely? For instance, by adding an oval mirror you can create a romantic look.
Decorate the Tub
For those bathrooms with a garden tub or a tub with wide edges, spruce that tub up. Start by arranging greenery around the edges. You can make the tub look really inviting with small ceramic pots filled with herbs and greenery. Include some votive candles in the arrangement, and you are ready to soak in a bubble-filled tubs, letting the delicious scents of the candles float your worries away. There’s nothing quite like filling the tub, lighting a few candles, and bathing in a warm candlelight glow.
Accents Pull It All Together
If you’re looking for a way to pull your new bathroom together, try adding a few accents. An oblong or square basket to hold a few bath towels makes the perfect touch. If you have room, add a small table, painting it a contrasting color and decorating it with stenciled flowers and greenery around the edges. You might also add a few clear glass containers that can hold cotton balls, Q-tips, and other items. Attractive body splash and lotion bottles make great accent pieces as well. Of course, you can also add more plants and more candles—whatever it takes to make it your own.
It’s so much more relaxing to bathe in a room that’s both exquisitely beautiful and wonderfully smelling. Why jump into the tub, only to jump right out again? Instead, you can take the time to relax, unwind, and thoroughly enjoy yourself. Take along a glass of wine, maybe your favorite book or magazine, and make it the most peaceful part of your day. Remember, bathrooms are anything but boring.

A 30.14-g stainless steel ball bearing at 117.82 degrees C is placed in a constant-pressure calorimeter containing 120.0mL of water at 18.44 degrees C. If the specific heat of the ball bearing is 0.474 J/g * degree C, calculate the final temperature of the water. Assume the calorimeter to have negligible heat capacity.
I set this up like this:
(#1.) Cball=(30.14g)*(.474 J/g*C)=14.29 J/C
Cwater=(120g)*(4.184 J/g*C)=502.1 J/C
(#2.)
(14.29)*(final temp-117.82C)=(502.1)*(final temp-18.44)
The answer in the back of the text is 21.19C.
My answer is 15.53C.
What is wrong with my solution?
Thanks.
I'm not sure how you got 15.53 from equation #2, but anyway your mistake is that the final temp is lower than 117.82 so you have to subtract it from 117.82, not 117.82 from it.
14.29(117.82-x) = 502.1(x-18.44)
1683.648 - 14.29x = 502.1x - 9258.724
10942.372 = 516.39x
21.1901 = x

Edmonton public art gets ballsy (Edmonton Journal)
To make public art on an "architectural scale" takes a lot of balls. Nine
hundred and thirty-seven stainless steel spheres, to be precise, fabricated
and assembled by L.A.-based Ball-Nogues Studio, the design firm responsible
for Edmonton's latest and biggest piece of permanent public art.
